For 5 months of 2023, 1650 appeals of citizens on violation of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language" were received by the State Language Protection Commissioner.

Thus, 555 appeals were related to the absence of the Ukrainian version of websites of online stores and websites that provide services for customers, 287 appeals as to violations during service providing, and 108 - in the field of providing information about goods and services.

Also, citizens continue to complain about non-compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the language of information for general knowledge (Article 28). For 5 months of 2023, 240 citizens' appeals regarding outdoor advertising and signs have been received.

It remains problematic to observe legislation on the state language in education by pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical workers of preschool, general secondary, and higher education institutions. Since the beginning of the year, the Commissioner received 183 appeals from citizens.

76 citizens reported about violations in the field of health care during the provision of services in hospitals, diagnostic centers, and family outpatient clinics, as well as on obtaining information from laboratory centers in the non-state language (Article 33).

106 appeals of citizens concerned violations of the language law in the bodies of state power (legislative, executive, judicial), 37 - in the field of culture, and 83 - in the media.

Most reports of violations of the legislation on the state language came from the city of Kyiv (598 appeals) as well as from the regions of Kharkiv (249), Odesa (221), Dnipropetrovsk (133), Kyiv (73), Mykolaiv (32), Zaporizhzhya (31) and Lviv (25).

20 appeals came from the Poltava region, 17 - from Sumy, 16 - from Zhytomyr, 14 - from Vinnytsia and Transcarpathian regions, 11 - from Chernihiv and Cherkasy, 10 - from Donetsk and Kirovohrad, 6 - from Kherson, Khmelnytsky and Ternopil, 4 - from Volyn and Chernivtsi and 2 appeals - from Luhansk and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Based on the results of the consideration of appeals of citizens to eliminate and prevent further violation of the legislation on the state language, the Commissioner took measures of response, including state control and imposition on violators of sanctions provided by the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. The results of the response measures will be announced further.
