Central executive bodies should make every effort to ensure that the Ukrainian language is guaranteed in all spheres of public life on the territory of Ukraine. This was emphasized by the State Language Protection Commissioner Taras Kremin during a public discussion "The Ukrainian-speaking environment is the key to successful education."

Today, one of the most priority tasks for the government is to ensure effective and high-quality language de-occupation. russian propaganda has been working for decades to make Ukrainians ashamed to communicate in Ukrainian. The question of acceptance of language law was constantly discussed. In fact, since the adoption of the Law "On Language in the Ukrainian SSR" in 1989 until 2019, when the Verkhovna Rada voted for a historical document - the Law "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language", a whole era has passed, several political generations have been changed. And today the language law does not work in full. Thus, the Ukrainian language for the External Independent Testing will become mandatory only in a few years," Taras Kremin said.

However, according to the Commissioner, in conditions of language de-occupation, preparation for the new academic year is already necessary.  Improvement of the quality of teaching the Ukrainian language is among the main goals for 2023. Our goal is to maximize coverage and the presence of the Ukrainian language as the language of the educational process at all levels of education, starting with the first grade and ending with the language of the university environment. The Ukrainian language is also important for us in extracurricular time. In this context, it is necessary to continue to work on expanding the network of free language courses, creating a league of language ombudsmen at universities," Taras Kremin said. 

The Commissioner stressed the importance of approval by the Government of the State Program to promote the development of the Ukrainian language as the state language, which, according to the language Law, should have been approved in 2020. "This program, among other things, will provide for the creation of a network of available free government courses for the study of Ukrainian", - Taras Kremin                underlined.
