On February 2 the Commissioner for Protection of State Language Taras Kremin met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine Ms. Päivi Laine.
The parties exchanged views on the importance of developing the language policy of the countries.
Taras Kremin informed Ms. Laine about the key areas of his activities, the work carried out by the Secretariatin the direction of protection of Ukrainian as the state language and implementation of the language legislation.
Ms. Laine shared her views on the implementation of the online course "Teaching Ukrainian in Classes with Teaching in the Languages of National Minorities" in the frames of the project "Learning Together" funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland andthe European Union andaimed at supporting the New Ukrainian School.
During the meeting the Commissioner for Protection of State Language also touched on the issue of importance of borrowing Finland’sexperience, in particular of the Institute for Languages of Finland, in the context of studying and implementing language practices within the European Federation of National Institutions for Language (EFNIL) which Ukraine aims tojoin as a member.
