Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremin emphasizes that the exam for proficiency in the state language must be taken by everyone - from students to the president. He said this in an interview with UNIAN.

"I am convinced that if we want to be called a civilized country. Officials must demonstrate that they comply with current legislation, including the language law, " Taras Kremin said.

According to the Commissioner, if an official's level of proficiency in the state language does not meet the standards, the official should be dismissed. "Besides, everyone should pass the exams - from the student to the president. This is a normal democratic practice," he stressed.

As you know, in July 2021, Art. 7 of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language", according to which a mandatory examination of the level of proficiency in the state language is introduced for certain categories of citizens.
