“The policy of russification of the Ukrainian education system in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is part of the tactics aimed at destroying our statehood and eradicating national identity”, Taras Kremin, State Language Protection Commissioner commented on the information on the abolition in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhya region of compulsory study of the Ukrainian language.  

"This is not the first example of how the russian occupation regime, violating international law, norms and legal practices of the civilized world, prohibits the Ukrainian language, ousting it in russian," he said.

The occupants continue to destroy Ukrainian education and culture, kidnap teachers and children, to burn kindergartens and schools. The new facts of the linguocide, which the Secretariat of the Commissioner collects for the third year in a row, are added to the numerous others. The self-proclaimed criminal educational evils that serve the enemy are the same terrorists as the russian occupation forces. Those involved in the crimes will be punished!" - the Commissioner said.
