On July 25-26, the Secretariat of the State Language Protection Commissioner carried out a comprehensive on-site monitoring of the implementation of the legislation on the state language in the Bolgrad district of Odesa region (the city of Bolgrad, Artsyz and Tarutyno).
The reason for the on-site monitoring was the appeal of citizens on non-compliance with the requirements of the language law by representatives of local self-government bodies and representatives of municipal institutions of particular settlements, as well as a letter addressed to the State Language Protection Commissioner by the Security Service of Ukraine regarding non-compliance with the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language" in the territory of the Bolgrad district of the Odesa region.
On July 25, Serhiy Levchuk and Yaroslava Vitko-Prysiazhniuk, Commissioners' Representatives met with Hennadii Bambura, the Head of the Bolgrad Regional Military Administration. The meeting was also attended by Vyacheslav Kulyk, Deputy Head of the Bolgrad RMA, Ihor Spiridonov, Chief Specialist of the Legal Support and Complaints Department of Legal Entities and Individuals of the Secretariat of the Commissioner, and Juliia Surhanova, Chief Specialist of the Monitoring and Analytical Support Sector of the Secretariat.
The parties discussed the importance of compliance with the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language".
