If you have got the citizenship of Ukraine and carry out your public, political, educational, professional activity in Ukraine, you should respect and adhere to the Constitution of Ukraine and implement its laws. This was stated by the State Language Protection Commissioner Taras Kremin on-air of Channel 4.
The Commissioner reminded that on July 14, 2021, the Constitutional Court recognized the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of Ukrainian as the State Language” as constitutional.
“This is a truly historic decision! In particular, it specifies that the threat to the Ukrainian language is equivalent to the threat to Ukraine’s national security, to the existence of the Ukrainian nation and its state, as the language is a kind of the nation’s code, and not just a means of communication. The Ukrainian government cannot be weak in the implementation and protection of citizens’ rights to protection of the Ukrainian language”, – Taras Kremin emphasized.
The Commissioner mentioned that currently every citizen should respect the Ukrainian people who were struggling for their right to independence and language for centuries.
"For those who are not satisfied with the existence of the State Language Protection Commissioner and the language Law, who are not satisfied with the Ukrainian state – formulate all that before you leave for other countries, where, in your opinion, you will feel comfortable. But if you have got the citizenship of Ukraine, if you carry out your public, political, educational, professional activity here, please respect, adhere to the Constitution of Ukraine and implement its laws. Respect the Ukrainian people who were struggling for their right to independence for centuries and continue to fight the occupant at the front in the East of our country today ”, – Taras Kremin said.
