Today, September 1, the State Language Protection Commissioner Taras Kremin spoke at an international round table: "Counteraction against disinformation in the context of hostilities”.
Organized by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC the event was attended by the Secretary of the NSDC Oleksiy Danilov, acting Head of the Center for Combating Disinformation Andrii Shapovalov, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Steen Nørlov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine Valeriu Chiveri, the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Ilgvars Kļava, the Ambassador of Montenegro to Ukraine Dragica Ponorac, the Chargé d’Affaires of the French Republic to Ukraine Benjamin Rohrig, representatives of the ministries.
The Commissioner noted that the fight against disinformation in the context of russian propaganda narratives, which have been spreading in Ukraine and the world for decades, is a key issue in the conditions of war. It is important to say it both on the day of the beginning of the Second World War and on the 190th day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people since the full-scale invasion of the russian federation on our land.
Taras Kremin recalled that the russian occupation of Crimea began on February 20, 2014, which the head of the kremlin called a "return to home" in the context of the "russian spring" project. Their "novorossia" project, which they dreamed it to be created by the hands of the so-called loyal to the occupiers russian speaking residents under the leadership of the "green men", were to become an element of the future revival of the USSR of the frames of 1991.
"Hostile manipulations on the part of the russian federation are part of a planned full-scale war. With propaganda slogans at 4 a.m. on February 24, 2022, russian regular troops began a "special operation" to capture the territory of Ukraine "in three days", he emphasized. “Counting on "bread and salt", war criminals received hell on all fronts. Our Armed Forces are the heroes”.
According to Taras Kremin, certain occupation narratives, used by information terrorists and the "fifth column" and paid by the russian federation, are understood all over the world without translation. "Denazification", "demilitarization", "de-Ukrainization", "de-banderization", as well as "crucified boys", "Galician slang", "children of policemen", "malorosy", "Ukraine is Lenin's project", etc. - putin's neoclassicism propaganda
Taras Kremin presented strong arguments that disprove the "language" myths of the russian federation: "the Ukrainian language does not exist - it is a dialect of the russian and polish languages".
The Сommissioner also told the international participants about the facts of linguocide at the occupied territories of Ukraine. "On the territories occupied by russia, Ukrainians are victims of genocide. Therefore, such facts as discrimination based on language, suppression of language, culture, and identity are the tip of the criminal iceberg of lies and murder" Taras Kremin said.
He reminded that since February 24, 2022, the Commissioner's Secretariat has recorded numerous facts of linguocide at the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, which will be included in the case of Ukraine against the russian federation at the ECHR.
