putin's regime is trying to eliminate all signs of Ukrainian statehood in the temporarily occupied territories. It was stated on the air of the TV channel "Pryamiy" by the State Language Protection Commissioner Taras Kremin.
"Since 2014, the occupation regime has not slowed the pace of russification in the occupied territories and continues to do everything to eliminate all the signs of Ukrainian statehood there," he said, noting that in particular, it concerned the sphere of education.
"The occupational education system is a kind of "a prison zone". We can only imagine what kind of experiments on our citizens and our children are being conducted behind this "barbed wire", - Taras Kremin said.
According to him, the Secretariat of the Commissioner has long been collecting facts of linguocide in education and other spheres of public life from open sources.
Since I became the Ombudsman, we have repeatedly emphasized this to law enforcement agencies and human rights organizations. Many of these facts are criminal proceedings," he stated.
Taras Kremin is convinced that national legislation lacks such a term as "linguocide".
"I think it will appear in our legislation, and should be used in all cases under the ECHR, and the International Criminal Court. I hope that at the nearest General Assembly of the European Federation of National Institutions for Language (EFNIL), which will be held in mid-October, I will report this to my European colleagues in order not only to change the paradigm to such inadmissible facts from the legislation's point of view but also to make changes to European and world legal practice", - the Language Ombudsman summarized.
