Ukraine has not taken any hostile action against the territory of the Russian Federation, its military facilities or civilian infrastructure, or against its people, which could be a formal pretext for military aggression. "

The Latvian Academy of Sciences expresses its full support for Ukraine as a country and its freedom-loving people in the fight against the aggressor.

"We call on all governments of the world to take immediate and effective measures to stop Russian aggression and restore Ukraine's sovereign rights to its territory, as it was the case before the annexation of Crimea and the start of Russian-backed separatist fighting in Donbas," the statement said.
