“The resolution, which was adopted yesterday by the Lithuanian Seimas regarding the recognition of the removal of Ukrainians to кussia as the deportation of the Ukrainian people, is an extremely important document both for Ukraine and for the entire international community”, Taras Kremin, the State Language Protection Commissioner, said for Channel 5.
"By voting for this resolution, the Seimas of Lithuania condemned the deportation of Ukrainian citizens outside our country. One of the important parts of this document concerns Ukrainian identity. Lithuanians, in particular, emphasize that the russians are attacking our identity, by trying to assimilate us at the same time. As you know, the issue of language assimilation was one of the tasks of the Soviet regime. And today, Ukraine is facing the same threats - this is the fight against Russian expansion at the informational, language, and political levels," Taras Kremin stated.
