The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Portuguese Republic Inna Ognivets, Chairman of the Union of Ukrainians in Portugal Pavlo Sadokha, Representative of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Portugal Andrii Ivanochko, other Portuguese NGOs and representatives of Ukrainian academic institutions.
Taras Kremin emphasized that enhanced cooperation between the representatives of Ukrainian authorities and world Ukrainians would promote protection of Ukraine’s national interests at international level. "Today, when we see again the increase in Russian troops on Ukraine’s border, our state needs more than ever international support and mobilization of efforts of Ukrainians around the world to protect the national interests", - he said.
The parties also discussed the issues of strengthening cooperation with organizations of worldwide Ukrainians, developing the state strategy of cooperation with Ukrainians living abroad and support of Ukrainian schools located abroad, in particular in studying the Ukrainian language, cooperation between scientific institutions of both countries, creation of the global platform "Ukrainians in the World" to promote the Ukrainian language, preserve the Ukrainian identity and cultural heritage.
