The Commissioner calls on to report about persecutions on the basis of language and oppressions of the Ukrainian language at the occupied territories.  

Today the whole world, shocked by russia's crimes, held its breath in mournful solidarity with Ukraine. No one doubts that russia's goal is to destroy Ukrainian statehood and the Ukrainian nation as a whole. The Ukrainian language, as one of the determining factors of national identity and state formation, is one of the main goals of the kremlin at this war. Linguocide is an important component of the policy of genocide of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories.

"Russia is bound to suffer a crushing defeat. All crimes against Ukrainians, including linguistic crimes, must be properly documented, investigated and brought to justice. All perpetrators must be identified and punished. As the State Language Protection Commissioner, I consider it’s my duty to facilitate this process.

I urge everyone who becomes aware of acts of linguicide against the Ukrainian language (any actions of the occupiers or their collaborators aimed at discrimination or repression against Ukrainians on the basis of language, forced expulsion of the Ukrainian language from public space and public use, replacing it with Russian) to inform us ", - Taras Kremin noted.
