This year Ukraine plans to become integrated with the European Federation of National Institutions for Languages (EFNIL). The Commissioner for Protection of State Language TarasKremin said it in the interview for Ukrinform.

“For this year we plan to become integrated with the European Federation of National Institutions for Languages which unites the best institutions of Europe.”

For nearly half a year we succeeded not only to form the staff, launch the Secretariat but to open its budgeting as well, to propose nominees for the representatives of the Commissioner, to find the location for the Secretariat, to answer for hundreds of appeals which were addressed to us, to conduct the events of state control for tens of complaints which required our reaction. And what is the most important – we succeeded to implement a plenty of regulatory documents at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Parliament.

According to the Commissioner it was also managed to initiate the cancellation of the local councils’ decisions about supporting the regional languages which contradict the current legislation. “We held very intensive information campaign as to implementation of Article 30 of the legislation on state language as to the sphere of customers’ service and providing the information and services in the state language which covered millions of citizens in Ukraine and other countries including in other languages. Our webpage has been launched, thus using it you can receive recommendations of the Commissioner and to inform about violations of language legislation,”- Taras Kremin pointed out.
