The government has failed to allocate more than 70% of the budget for the development and support of the Ukrainian language – State Language Protection Commissioner

Olena Ivanovska, State Language Protection Commissioner, made this statement during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.

“Ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language requires adequate funding. In 2025, 1.8 billion hryvnias were allocated—an amount that would have allowed for the development of a network of language courses, support for book publishing, and the creation of competitive digital products,” she noted.
