14 regions of Ukraine have already approved programs for the development and functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language in all spheres of public life. This was reported by the State Language Protection Commissioner Taras Kremin on the air of "Ukrainian Radio".
“We stand firmly on the principles of establishing regional language policy. Thus, a few days ago, the fourteenth regional language program was approved in the Kherson region," he said.
According to the Commissioner, such programs significantly help Ukrainian citizens to learn more about the language law, to learn the Ukrainian language free of charge, to get additional information on passing exams for the level of proficiency in the state language, to support gifted youth in order to contribute to linguistic stability in the state.
"In our activities, we put a huge emphasis on the spheres of education, culture, transport, health care, Internet resources, the activities of state authorities and local self-government," the Commissioner added.
Taras Kremin also stressed that the current language stability, as well as the linguistic stability of the nation, is unprecedented in comparison to all the years of Ukrainian independence.
We’ll
remind that the regional language programs have been approved in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Transcarpathian, Zaporizhzhea, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Odesa, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv, Kherson, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy regions on the initiative of the Commissioner. This contributed, in particular, to the opening of 492 locations for free mastering of the Ukrainian language.
